Performing Arts

Sloan Creek Intermediate School
 
As part of their required fine arts electives for middle school, 6th grade students begin their secondary fine arts experience.  All students are required to choose from art, band, choir or orchestra.
 
Band
Students interested in band will go through an instrument fitting at the end of February.  An instrument fitting helps each student find the perfect instrument for them to play throughout middle school and high school.
 
Choir
Any student may enroll in our beginner choir program.  
 
Orchestra
Students interested in orchestra will go through an instrument fitting at the end of February.  An instrument fitting helps each student find the perfect instrument for them to play throughout middle school and high school.  
 
Willow Springs Middle School
 
In middle school, students can continue in their selected 6th grade fine art, and also participate in new courses.
 
Band
Each band student will perform a placement audition, and the WSMS directors will place the students in a band ensemble appropriate for their skillset. The band ensembles are critiqued and given a rating each year through the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation. There are three band ensembles at WSMS.

Choir
Choir students are invited to perform a placement audition for the WSMS Choir.  hHe Choir director will place the students in a choir ensemble appropriate for their voice and skillset. The band ensembles are critiqued and given a rating each year through the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation. There are three choir ensembles at WSMS.

Bella Voce (soprano, alto)
Tenor-Bass (tenor, baritone, bass)

This course is by audition.  The students will prepare and compete in the UIL One Act Play Festival for Middle School.
